Rinehart Lake


Rinehart LakeRinehart Lake is a 42 acre groundwater drainage lake with an estimated volume of 744 acre-feet located in New Hope Township, three miles northeast of Nelsonville. The lake has a maximum depth of 27 feet and a bottom consisting primarily of marl with sand, gravel, and muck also present. The estimated retention time in Rinehart Lake is 2.9 years. There is public access on the south shore with a boat launch and a small parking area. Development on this lake started relatively early with many small cottages. The shoreline is currently well developed with a combination of cottages and year-round homes; however, there has been some effort to maintain the natural beauty of the shoreline. The sport fish population is presently dominated by bluegill, largemouth bass, yellow bullheads, and yellow perch.
