Lake Emily

Lake EmilyLake Emily is a 95.5-acre hard water seepage lake located in the Town of Amherst, west of Amherst Junction. The lake is long and narrow, and the bottom drops off quickly with a maximum depth of 36 feet. Bottom materials are primarily marl and sand, with gravel and rubble present in the littoral zones. The lake has an estimated volume of 1,691 acre-feet, and an estimated retention time of 2.3 years. There is one intermittent inlet from Mud Lake on the west end, but no outlet. The 2.9 mile shoreline is heavily developed with homes and cottages. There is also a large County Park with a campground, beach, and public boat launches, making Lake Emily a popular area for recreation during the summer. Wildlife use is limited by the heavy development. The fishery contains northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, panfish, and trout.
